Secretary Club Update

Dear IGC Members,

Your loyal Secretary here with a quick update regarding your club.
The first good news is that we finally left Winter behind and have seen the sun shining on the golf courses during the past two weeks. I even saw a ball bouncing down the fairway at Rigenee today !

Attendances at IGC fixtures have started to improve over the past few weekends, notably for the Seniors vs Juniors at L’Empereur, Monthly Medal at Hulencourt, and match vs Pierpont which, incidentally, we won by a substantial margin.
See photos of Pierpont match winners (Captain’s report to follow).

Now to my first serious point. If we are to maintain a sustainable IGC calendar of golf with an average of 10 fixtures every month, we need to ensure attendances at all our host Clubs in line with the expectations we set when making the booking.

We already needed to cancel our visit to Spiegelven due to lack of interest, and I fear a reducing range of courses on the 2019 calendar if that trend continues. Therefore, weekly reminders and promotions to follow each week in the interest of supporting what I believe must be the most comprehensive and varied fixture list of any golf club anywhere !

Next weekend is your chance to tune up in advance of Stay & Play. For those of you not going to S&P, the weekend is a must – play as we have no local IGC match the following weekend when many of us are away in Kent.

Saturday 21st 08.00 at Rigenee.
Early bird start as usual at Rigenee. One of our regular and favourite courses. Excellent condition with fast true greens.
Only 7 signed up right now and 7 flights, 21 places booked, so plenty of space.

Sunday 22nd 09.30 at Enghien.
Many of you will not know this course but its well worth a visit. Owned and maintained by the same group as Pierpont and La Tournettte with greenkeeping and course maintenance to match. Enghien added 9 new holes a few years ago and they are really well designed with spectacular bunkering and contouring.

Please give it a try. We are building our relationship with Enghien as part of our strategy to court all 3 group courses in pursuit of preferable IGC fees and access.

Looking forward to seeing all IGC members old and new out on the course over the next few weeks.

You will be most welcome !
