Captains Update 14 Sept

I hope you are enjoying the Indian summer weather – forecast looks good too for a few more weeks so good news for the golfing events to come.  But first a look back – let me begin with congratulations to Lars Ove Roos who won the Royal Trophy at sunny Royal Hainaut last week.  Lockdown in Sweden was obviously good for his form.   Lars taking first place too the previous day at a glorious Royal Limburg – great to see it back in fantastic condition and the heather in bloom too added an extra beautiful ouch.

Congratulations also to Bernard Donck, who represented IGC in the Challenge de la Francophonie at Naxhalet at the start of Sept and tied for 1st Net (37 pts) in Division 1 but lost on countback.

This weekend past saw late entry by Karli Eichhorn take first place in th monthly medal at Hulencourt which I am pleased to say was much drier than the previous visit.  Full details of results can be found on i-golf and a full list of qualifiers for the monthly medal final (back at hulencourt in late Oct) are on the IGC website.

Next weekend is the summer cup final at Enghien on Sat 19th Sept.  This is the culmination of a long summer of golf and it looks hard to see anyone deny David Collins who has a commanding 7 point lead but you never know….There is a healthy turn out already signed up but as usual if you would like to play please register early on i-golf.  Sunday 20th is Brussels car free day but if you want to escape we have a round booked at the US course at La Tournette.

As previously advertised the club championships are fast approaching – Rigenee on Sat 26 and Pierpont on Sun 27th.  Good to see a healthy turn out already and this year’s ladies competition looks like being the most competitive in many years.

On a final note I have to say hard luck to the IGC team who lost to NATO at Pierpont this afternoon.  The final score was 11.5 to 6.5 and so our losing streak against NATO continues for another year.  The final inter-club match of the year is against Falnuee in November –  more details to follow later.

I hope to see you on the greens soon.
