IGC Monthly – July 2018

Dear golfers,

What a busy weekend we have just had.  We started on Friday 13th at Royal Antwerp in typical glorious weather with the course in fine condition.  Not sure why we only have one visit to this gem in the calendar but there was uniform praise from the 12 who played that we should have a few more visits next year.  We were warmly welcomed, good price, fine food and company on the terrace afterwards – good scoring too so what is not to like?

We followed this with two inter-club matches.  First on Saturday we put out a strong team at Pierpont for the triangular match against EU and MUGS. I am pleased to report a thumping victory for IGC so congratulations to all with a special mention for outstanding form from Marion Tomkins and Andre Husheer who clearly liked the syndicate scoring format.

Match IGC/MUGS/EUG triangular completion. IGC took the day lead by a 1 over gross performance by Andre (right in this picture with his three ball)

Sunday saw IGC take a 20-strong team to play an inaugural match against Royal Waterloo.  The course too was in superb condition and although we lost the match 13-7 I was very pleased with the superb performance put up by all the players against some very fine opponents.  i hope we get the chance to seek a rematch next year.

I was delighted to see too the commemorative brochure marking our 30th anniversary.  We have a large stock of them which we will have available at IGC events over the coming weeks – they are well worth having!!

Clearly subsidising these club matches is very popular as there was a waiting list for the match against Waterloo.  I was pleased to see most club members sporting club shirts.  A fresh order is expected any day now for those who I know are waiting the correct sizes.

At the weekend coming we have visits to Falnuee and La Tournette and that is followed by a visit to L’Empereur (another course in superb condition) and then another visit to Royal Limburg for the July monthly medal.  I know this is a busy holiday period but if you are around please try and sign up early for these events – it really does make organisation and liaising with the clubs so much easier.

I will be away myself on holiday to sunny Scotland in August so wherever you are enjoy the summer break and I look forward to seeing you again soon on the tee.
