Royal Limburg Golf Club (before Limburg Golf & Country Club) sports a splendid 18-hole course, reminiscent of the most exquisite British Championship Courses, amid the typical natural beauty of the Kempen. The 6,178-metre course (PAR 72), designed by the renowned golf architect Fred Hawtree with a classic level of difficulty, is playable almost all year round thanks to the sandy soil. The course borders the Tenhaagdoornheide nature reserve and offers extremely varied holes meandering between heath- and woodland. Intelligent bunkering, beautifully shaped fairways, some delicate putting lines, frequent doglegs and tip-top maintenance make Houthalen one of the coolest golf courses in Flanders. Before or after a round you can be pampered in the cozy clubhouse with its bar and restaurant. From the terrace you have a great view of holes one and eighteen. This course is particularly a must in the late summer and autumn, when the heather turns purple. Not for nothing was Royal Limburg Golf Club listed in the 2011 Top 100 best courses in Europe in the prestigious Golf World Magazin.
