A lovely weekend for golf saw many of you take advantage of the weather to get out to play – thanks for the continued support of the club.  

First of all congratulations to Jed Royal who is the 2020 Matchplay champion beating Lynette Boydell 4&3 at L’Empereur.  Congratulations to Jed and commiserations to Lynette.  There was an excellent turnout on Saturday with 24 players underlining the importance of my regular message to register on I-golf early to avoid disappointment.  It also helps if we have to try and secure extra tee times although we couldn’t manage it at L’Empereur.  The course was in excellent condition for the time of year.   Winning the winter cup qualifying round with a superb 40 points was Ged Boydell ahead of Didier Hazard who edged out the Captain on countback in second place with a fine 38 points.  

Clearly alot of you took advantage of the fine weather to make it a double header over the weekend at Falnuee on Sunday.  Three players scored 36 points and the prize had to go on the score of the last 3 holes which was Ross Hood thanks to a fine birdie on 17th.  Concluding a good scoring weekend to take first place with another 38 points was your’s truly thanks it had to be said to a huge stroke of luck with a wayward tee shot on the 16th which somehow managed to end up sitting nicely on the 17th tee!!  

Looking ahead – next saturday 24th october is the final of the monthly medal competition at Hulencourt.  There are 20 qualifiers competing for the final prize so don’t forget to sign up if you haven’t already done so.     There is sufficient tee times so even if you haven’t qualified for the MM final feel free to join us….On Sun 25th we will be at La Tournette on the English course.  

Covid-19 remains a constant factor for us all and following the tightening of the restrictions by the Belgian govt on Friday hospitality at club houses will be closed for the next month.  We hope that with strict adherence to the park and play rules that we will still be able to play golf but we will keep you posted with any further developments as soon as we know.   

It was nice to see the interest in the new logo wear range that we advertised – we will let you know as soon as the orders come in and if you didn’t place an order in advance don’t worry as we will have a stock to keep you supplied….
