Weekly Update 2nd August

I hope you are well and managing to enjoy the great weather – even if it can be a bit hot at times for golf (and looks like more to come).

A few headlines from the weekend.  At Rigenee Gregg Hawson was the winner on 37 points with Peter Mountain taking second place on countback with 34 points from Per Aidemark (who turned a 40 point score into 34 in an up and down round).  Taking the NTP prize on the 18th for the second time in succession at Rigenee was your captain who chose to hit 5 iron this time instead of 4 iron.  Commiserations to Per who thought he had won it before the captain “stole” the prize.🙂

At Pierpont Jan Hendrik Dopheide was the runaway winner with 37 points from Marie-Christine Rombouts in second place on 30 points.

In keeping with the tightened covid restrictions there will be no prize givings after our games for the moment.

Just a reminder for the weekend ahead – Sat 8 Aug L’Empereur which is also the qualifying event for the club to enter the Challenge du Francophonie (two categories men and ladies up to 18.4 and 18.5 and above) with the final at Naxhalet on Sat 5 September.

Sunday 9 August – La Tournette (the English course) monthly medal)

And as previously mentioned we currently have two matches scheduled on Sat 15 and Sun 16th Aug at Falnuee and the National respectively.  All events are on i-golf so i encourage you to sign up early for these and other events quickly.

Finally, a special mention to our President Rodolphe Matossian who was runner up in the AFG senior 36-hole competition at Royal Hainaut at the start of the week.  Well done too to Marie-Astride Dubois who also represented the club and would also have been runner up in the same competition (but sadly couldn’t stay for the prize giving).  A credit to them (and the club) for these high profile finishes.

Hope to see you soon on the course,

Barry McAlpine

Captain
